This guide, the concepts and detail presented, will help you to revise for and pass the Oracle 1Z0-042 examination and give you that valuable OCA (Oracle Certified Associate)qualification. Your first step towards becoming an Oracle Certified Professional. This is not an easy examination to pass. It would certainly not be so worthwhile or valued
if it was. In addition to this document you will need to study one of the commerciallyavailable books on the subject, and have access to a computer with Oracle10g installed.

Commercially available training would also be extremely useful.
This document attempts to point you in the right direction by letting you know the kind of information you will need to know to pass the examination. Use this document to guide your study efforts at the beginning and as a revision guide prior to taking the exam. The second book in my opinion is far superior to the first and it has the added
bonus of including information necessary for the second exam as well.
Many Oracle Parameters have values that relate to ?time?. Confusingly an integer containing a time value of for example: 100, may, depending on the parameter, relate to 100 x 1/100 of a Second, 100 Seconds, 100 Minutes, 100 x 10 Minute Periods, or 100 Days, and there may even be others I have overlooked. Be very careful to try and be familiar with the parameter so that even if you are unsure how the period is defined youcan at least make an educated gu ess based on the function of the parameter. You will not get the chance to use Enterprise Manager during the exam, however you do
need to be familiar with both it?s interface and capabilities as you are likely to see one or more questions that relate directly to the Enterprise Manager.Data Dictionary Views and Dynamic Performance Views, their capabilities
